Tasting notes

Aroma: Blackcurrant, citrus zest, and brown sugar sweetness.

Body: Juicy, silky body — medium and structured.

Flavour: Blackcurrant and red berries up front, followed by grapefruit/lime brightness and a caramelised sugar finish.

Sweetness: Brown sugar / caramel sweetness that lingers.

Acidity: Bright, sparkling citrus acidity — lively and clean.

Process information

Washed. Cherries are hand-sorted, depulped, fermented (typically overnight), fully washed, and then slow-dried on raised beds for a bright, structured cup with excellent clarity.

 

Origin information

Region: Kirinyaga County, Central Kenya (slopes of Mount Kenya).

Farm / Producer: Rung’eto (Rungeto) Farmers Cooperative Society — smallholder producers delivering cherry to the co-op’s factories in Kirinyaga.

Variety: Commonly includes Kenyan varieties such as SL28, SL34, Batian and Ruiru 11 (lot composition may vary).

Altitude: Approx. 1600–1900 masl.
